2013 Mud Run Registration is Now Open!

Combine a thrill seeking obstacle course, a little bit of adventure, running, laughter, a whole lot of MUD and you have the perfect recipe for the Chattanooga Mud Run!

 The fourth annual Chattanooga Mud Run will be held on Saturday, August 17 at 9 am at Greenway Farms, a 180-acre city park located in Hixson. The cost to enter the 5K Race is $250 for a team of five. Proceeds raised from the Chattanooga Mud Run benefits Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area.

“The Chattanooga Mud Run has attracted more than 5,000 participants over the past two years and we are expecting even more participants this year as we are creating a bigger, better, and muddier obstacle course,” said Jason Farmer, Event Chair and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area Board Member. “This fun loving family competition attracts everyone from extreme athletes to soccer moms as we have a little something for everybody!”

Team registration is now open and since the race is limited to 600 teams, event organizers encourage teams to sign up early as in years past team slots sold out fast. To register or to inquire about corporate sponsorship opportunities, visit www.chattanoogamudrun.com or call 423.933.2700.

We think our community needs extra funding to help low-income families repair their homes. $25,000 will help get us started!  Habitat plans to offer offer energy efficiency upgrades to qualifying low-income homeowners in Chattanooga’s Bushtown Neighborhood.  Your votes for our State Farm Neighborhood Assist Cause can help us get this project underway.

Vote Up to 10x a Day to Help Habitat Repair Homes in Our Community

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area has been selected as one of 200 causes that are finalists in the State Farm Neighborhood Assist™ program!  Our submission, along with the other finalists, are live on Facebook and anyone who gets the State Farm Neighborhood Assist application can log on and vote for our cause. The 40 causes that receive the most votes will be announced on April 29 and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to the affiliated nonprofits to implement the solution.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area has been working to develop a program to help homeowners in the Bushtown area by making repairs that improve the energy efficiency of their homes. If our cause is funded, Habitat will receive $25,000 to undertake our first group of repair projects on North Holly Street.

If you are on Facebook, visit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area’s page and “like” us, then visit State Farm Neighborhood Assist, get the application, then vote for Build Up Bushtown (direct link to Habitat’s cause)

Voting is open from April 4 – April 22 and any Facebook user who gets the application is eligible to vote up to 10 times per day.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist is a crowd-sourced philanthropic initiative that lets communities determine where grant funding is awarded, exclusively through Facebook. The initiative utilizes the State Farm Youth Advisory Board to vet submissions for causes and allows Facebook users who download the free State Farm Neighborhood Assist application to vote for the final 40 grant winners. The program has been inspired by the incredible number of neighborhoods that are coming together to solve a problem or improve their community.

Former Chicago Bulls Player to Keynote Habitat Spring Dinner

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area will host its annual Spring Dinner on Thursday, April 11 at 5:30 pm at the Mill located at 1601 Gulf Street in Chattanooga. The keynote speaker for the event is former Chicago Bulls and 3-Time NBA Champion, Dickey Simpkins.

Simpkins played six seasons with the Chicago Bulls in the mid 90’s and was a part of NBA’s most “Winningest Teams” which included Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman. After concluding a 12-year career in professional basketball that included time in the NBA and in Europe, Simpkins founded Next Level Performance, Inc. (NLP), a basketball skills development training organization located in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to managing NLP, Simpkins is a national motivational speaker, an ESPN Sports Analyst, and a scout for the Charlotte Bobcats.

ImagePassionate about the game, his family and giving back to the community, Simpkins will share an inspiring story about his late mother’s journey of hope, perseverance, determination, and homeownership.

Individual tickets to the dinner are $65 and a table of 8 is $500. Proceeds raised will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area. At work in Chattanooga since 1986, the local affiliate is dedicated to transforming the Chattanooga area by building affordable and energy efficient homes for working families.
